Life isn’t going according to Brenna Flynn’s plan. At 32, she and her husband should be well established in their careers and planning a family.

Instead, Brenna’s husband is killed in an accident and four months later, Brenna loses her position as high school guidance counsellor due to budget cuts.  Brenna returns home to Bayview City to pick up the pieces of her life.

Unable to find employment in her field, she turns to a family friend who owns a temp agency. Brenna is sent on an interview for a production assistant position on a cooking reality show. She aces the interview and gets the job.

On her second day at work, she discovers a body in the studio. Brenna learns she’s the police’s primary suspect. Determined to clear her name, she uses skills she’s honed as a high school guidance counsellor to learn more about the victim. Drawing people out comes naturally to Brenna, and she becomes a confidante to the cast and crew of the show.

The stakes are raised with threatening notes, poisonings, and blackmail. Can Brenna uncover who the killer is before someone else dies?
